The IEC came into existence in 1997 with the sole responsibility of conducting elections and referenda in The Gambia.

We strive to ensure that all elections conducted in The Gambia are free, fair, and transparent.

How we Vote:

The Gambia has a unique system for casting the ballot. Voters are issued with a token/marble which is inserted through a hole in the drum of the choice of candidate of the voter.
